PARENT'S SECTION -FRIDAY NOTICES

CENTURY HOUSE MONTESSORI SCHOOL, B.V.I.

25th April 2008

“People sometimes fear that if a child of five gives lessons, this will hold him back in his own progress.  But, in the first place, he does not teach all the time and his freedom is respected.  Second, teaching helps him to understand what he knows even better than before.   He has to analyze and rearrange his little store of knowledge before he can pass it on.”

Dr. Maria Montessori

TODDLERS & WOBBLERS 1ST ANNUAL SPORTS DAY AT LITTLE PENGUINS MONTESSORI CRÈCHE

Toddlers and Wobblers1st Annual Sports Day will take place on Friday 13th June at 4.00pm. All are welcome to attend.

ELEMENTARY CHILDREN PICK UP

Please note that elementary children asked by their parents to wait at the gate at pick up time will be asked to be seated on the bench.  The school gate is not a play area and we hope this will ease the congestion of parents and children leaving the campus. Please speak with your children about this as Ms. Elizabeth has mentioned it to her class many times.

BVI NATIONAL PARKS TRUST ANNUAL FLOWER SHOW

The BVI National Parks Trust Annual Flower Show takes place on Sunday 27th April 2008 between 12.30pm and 5.30pm.  CHMS, BVI students have participated in the Art Competition with the theme How Does Your Garden Grow? We are pleased to announce that Reef Downing, Chelsi-Marie Solomon, Zanti Dick Read, Via Donovan-Hodge, Saskia Young, Jakob Donner and Lucie Mobbs have been awarded prizes.    The prize giving takes place at approximately 3.00pm and there will be entertainment for the children. CHMS, BVI is very proud of all our children who participated in this event.

SUMMER DRESS UPDATE

The fabric for the summer dresses was ordered last week by J & C Trading who will contact us once it has landed on island.  Again our thanks go to Mrs. Stride for all her hard work on this project.

MINI ARTS FAIR

CHMS, BVI will be hosting our 3rd Annual Mini Arts Fair next Wednesday 30th April at 12.30pm.  The students will be displaying their art work. Sandwiches and fresh lemonade will be available for sale.  All parents and friends are welcome to attend.  Children may leave with their parents after the event. Tables are available to vendors at $25.00 per table, please reserve via the school office and pass the word onto your crafty friends.

Please let class teachers know if you will be having lunch with us at the Mini Arts Fair.  A list of sandwiches will be available from Monday.  Children can wear their home clothes on that day but no crocks or flip flops as they are too dangerous on the playgrounds.

LATE FEES REMINDER

Please be reminded that the 10% late fee will be applied to any tuition fees not paid during the first five working days of each month.

HATS AND WATER

A strong reminder that hats must be worn on the playground at all times.  Any children who do not have hats will be asked to sit on the porches in the shade.  Please send children with sun block and extra water.  Please note the school has been experiencing difficulty with the cistern and town water recently.  We are working to resolve the recent problems and appreciate your understanding.

CALENDARS

Please find attached calendars for the new school year for CHMS, BVI and Little Penguins Montessori Crèche.

ADMINISTRATOR’S ABSENCE

Miss Caroline will be absent from the school office during the week commencing 5th May.  Miss Caroline is travelling to the States for surgery.  I’m sure you join us in wishing her well.
