The Inspiration and History Behind the Foundation of CHMS

As described by CHMS Founder and Principal, Mrs. Patricia Morgan

CHMS BVI was founded the moment my daughter Brittany Wallis Morgan was born at 10.31 on  29th September 1993 in Bermuda, although I didn't yet know it.

Living and working on the beautiful island of Bermuda for many years and having helped open two Montessori Schools there, I naturally presumed Brittany would spend the first few years of her educational experience in Bermuda.

However, fate lead the Morgan family in a different direction and we found ourselves in the B.V.I.

Having the passion, deep respect, love and commitment to the Montessori Ideal, philosophies and methodologies it made perfect sense (to me anyway) to open a Montessori School here in the territory for both Brittany and the children of the BVI to enjoy experience.

CHMS BVI started in 1998 with one pupil Brittany Wallis Morgan in a rented room at the Old Colonial Manor at Paraquita Bay.  We were quickly joined by my second child Ariane Tye.

We then moved to Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church at East End, Long Look where we were joined by my third child Michael Poole, and the rest, as they say is history.

A history rich with fun filed, heart wrenching, tear inducing memories of love, laughter and learning.  Along with hard work, frustratingly long hours and obstacles to overcome.

CHMS BVI was founded for Brittany but over the years has been honoured to offer "Quality Education for Life" for over 200 children from all over the Territory and the world.

Brittany is now attending Roedean School for Girls in Brighton, England -  www.roedean.co.uk

Ariane Tye graduated onto the new St. Georges High School.

Michael Poole graduated to Cedar school in Kingston, Tortola  - www.cedarschoolbvi.com

I am very proud of all of CHMS BVI successes to date but even prouder of Brittany and her ability at a very young age (4) to share her toys, her mother and her early education with others and to endure many long hours both before and after school and on the weekends to help build my dream.  Her maturity and strength defies her chronological age.

My darling it was all for you.
