VOLUNTEERING
The Gift of Time and Talent

There are some things that money cannot buy and one of the most valuable contributions that families can make to our school is to share the gift of their time and expertise.  Parental input is invaluable and helps shape the school.  Parents who share the gift of time and talent with the children keep special memories of experiences and friendships that last a life time.

A few ways in which you can help CHMS, BVI are listed below:

· Lend support to fundraising efforts.
· Organize field trips and special events.
· Help in garden (Adopt a Plot Scheme).
· Share special talents and special interests such as craft, language, music or other.
· Class parent.
· Lunch parent – help the teachers over the lunch period on the playground,
· Laundry Parent – help with the laundry from a classroom.
· Paper cutting, pin punch tracing (tracing shapes for pin punch activities, Casa), photocopying.
· Sewing, needle craft activities.
· Repairing damaged classroom materials.
· Open House Ambassadors.

Below are listed upcoming fund raising events which volunteer help is required to help make them as enjoyable and successful as possible:

QUIZ NIGHT            
14th November 2006 – Volunteers are needed to help advertise and organize the event.   Raffle prizes need to be found and helpers needed to assist the Faculty on the night of the event.

OPEN HOUSE           
10th November 9.30 – 12.30pm.  Parents are our best ambassadors.  Prospective parents like hear from existing parents the benefits of the Montessori Method.  We would be delighted to have parent volunteers assist with tours of the classes and meet new visitors.

STOP N’ SHOP           
9th December 2006.  This is a fun event which puts us all in the spirit of the festive season.  We are looking for help to run the coffee stall, craft stall, selling tables to vendors, advertising, setting up music for the event (PA system) and running bric a brac stall.

VISAR MARKET DAY           
Every year CHMS, BVI takes a stall to support Visar who do an amazing job for the BVI community and rely upon donations.  We need people to help the faculty man the stall on the day.

Other past fund raising ideas include school Christmas greetings cards, towels, calendars. If you are able to help organize these ventures please let us know.  Our children, families and extended families all enjoy and are able to treasure these special mementos.
